Tooth discoloration can be caused by structural disorders that occur during the development of teeth in childhood and infancy, as well as the foods and beverages consumed in daily life.
Structural disorders penetrate the teeth during the development and are not removed by brushing. Additionally, smoking, tea, coffee and similar foods also contribute to tooth discoloration.
Different types of discoloration require different treatments. Doctors decide on the appropriate treatment in this regard.
There are two methods for teeth whitening
Power bleaching is one of the fastest, safest and most effective teeth whitening systems that can whiten the teeth up to three or four degrees in a short time (about an hour) using gel and laser in a hospital environment.
Home bleaching is a process that is carried out by simply measuring the mouth and placing the gels in plastic trays that are customized to the individual. On average, the desired whiteness is achieved within 5 to 7 days. The trays need to be placed on the teeth for 4 to 8 hours a day (this can vary according to the color and the gel).
The process of teeth whitening has different results in different places. Teeth whitening also depends on the structure of the tooth.
Almost all whitening gels cause sensitivities in the teeth. Sensitivity to hot and cold drinks or air currents can be annoying. This is a natural and expected complication of this operation. If this sensitivity does not go away within 24 to 48 hours, the bleaching process may need to be stopped. When there are sensitivities, toothpastes and creams prescribed by your dentist can reduce the irritation of the sensitivity. Another way to reduce sensitivity is to use toothpastes containing potassium nitrate.
During and after the whitening process, you should avoid consuming foods that change the color of your teeth for at least two weeks.
